Turmeric Powder

What is the Golden spice;

Turmeric is a spice that has been used in Indian cooking for many centuries. It is most commonly found in curries and is what gives mustard its yellow color. Turmeric is known as the spice of life due to its many health properties. A popular one is anti inflammatory, another great one is anti-bacterial. The list goes on.

Turmeric powder is simply a powder and can used in many different foods and drinks. You can even make facial masks or foot baths as well.

The spice has many purposes and ways to use it. Now Turmeric’s active ingredient (Curcumin) needs some help to fully be absorbed into the body.

There are four ways to maximize the absorption:

  1. Black Pepper and or Cayenne Pepper
  2. Coconut Oil and or Olive Oil
  3. Quercetin
  4. Milk

Using a pinch of black pepper or cayenne can help with the absorption of it’s active ingredient called Curcumin. A great salad dressing would include black pepper, turmeric and coconut oil.

Oil and milk contain a fat content which also helps with the absorption of Curcumin in the body.

A great smoothie would contain Turmeric, coconut oil, milk, black pepper, kale and any other fruit and vegetables.

Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that unblocks a block our body has for curcumin and makes the Turmeric-curcumin for absorbable in the body. Quercetin is found in things like kale, crapes, cranberries, blueberries, red wine and a few other foods.
